Originaria Impact

ARTE ORIGINARIA MECEHUAL

Originaria: A Film Showcase in Original Languages

Originaria is the sum of many wills: directors, translators, interpreters, technicians, cultural promoters, communities, and audiences who together built a movement that brought cinema in Original languages to territories where it had never been seen before. Each screening opened pathways of dialogue and hope, proving that our languages deserve to resonate everywhere.

Originaria is cultural justice: it dignifies memories, strengthens identities, and shows that cinema can go beyond entertainment to transform realities, making visible the languages, traditions, and worldviews of Indigenous Peoples while fostering intercultural dialogue and reflection on contemporary challenges.

Some numbers that reflect its impact:

  • 31 screenings held
  • 14 municipalities reached
  • 6 languages made visible
  • 14 workshops, talks, and cultural activities carried out
  • 60 directors, translators, and talents involved
  • 22 productions presented
  • Approximate total impact: 1,643,500 people
